Students will also learn how earthquake reconstruction programs have worked. Chengdu was a city of culture. How has the exposure brought new spirituality to its citizens, if any?

Online coursework begins Mar. 14-May 15, 2012.

China is the world’s most populous country and is also the most rapidly urbanizing nation in the world. In 2001, the government announced that they must create the equivalent of 20 new cities a year of at least one million persons in this next decade to handle the internal rural-to-urban migration, mostly to the east and south. Urbanization and other trends are explored in this course, especially those changes since 1978, following the Cultural Revolution. The religious policies, along with exposure to official Three-self Churches, house churches, religious schools and NGO’s are analyzed in their social contexts.
