Global Christian History
May 19-23, 2011
(Dates will be confirmed on August 1st)
Global Christian History is an intensive immersion into 2000 years of Christian history, but from a global and mission perspective. For the first 500 years Christianity was a non western religion, and it has become so again in our lifetime. Our required readings and my lectures are shaped by the fact that the center of the church world wide is outside the west. The course is held at my home we call Bakken, and in this retreat like setting we use the 2000 foot mission trail to enhance our learning. We are limiting enrollment at 20 students. Housing is provided nearby in the valley. We have a lot of fun, we get to know each other, and we learn a great deal. While it lasts four full days at Bakken, two months of pre-course assignments and with due dates two months afterwards, this becomes a 4-month course. My mantra: “If you can’t tell me where the church has been, I will never trust you to tell me where it ought to go.” -- Ray Bakke
