Africa-Initiated Fundraising Appeal: African students and alumni are creating a matching gift fund to encourage the BGU family in other continents to give generously to BGU’s fiscal year-end need. Wait … this is money from Africa not an appeal to Africa! This seems to be a surprising reversal of what people might expect, but it exactly demonstrates how God’s Kingdom should work.
Africa has many non-developed economies. Giving money internationally from Africa has massive challenges including exorbitant transfer fees and currency exchange restrictions. Yet, a growing group of African alumni, students and faculty are leading an effort to create a $10,000 matching gift to exhort the rest of the BGU family to give. The steering committee for this effort so far includes alumni from east, west and central Africa. The goal is to raise $200 per alumni and student in Africa.
BGU has two fundraising appeals to alumni and friends each year. In November, a group of mostly North American BGU board members, faculty and alumni created a $60,000 matching fund that encouraged a match by the rest of the BGU family. Now as BGU approaches our fiscal year end on June 30 with a need for $40,000, African faculty and alumni have taken on the role as the initiators of the appeal.
If you are reading this and are from Africa, please consider giving to this matching fund. Most gifts can be given through https://www.bgu.edu/giving/. If you have challenges, please contact email@example.com if you want help with ways to transfer a donation.
If you are a member of the BGU family from other continents, please prayerfully consider giving a June gift to BGU at https://www.bgu.edu/giving/ to help us finish our stewardship of God’s purposes for BGU this year with financial health.
We are grateful to God for His provision. We are grateful to you for being His instruments of generousity.
