In addition to death and physical injury, combat produces wounds that are invisible and do not bleed, and yet, which may have devastating long-term effects on warriors. Such wounding may include combat operational stress, acute stress disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and a broad range of phobias and anxiety disorders. The United States current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are no exception.
This study examines the effects of combat on warriors, the theology related to issues of warfare, and explores how the church can work to bring healing to returning warriors and their families.
