The purpose of this dissertation is to show how Pentecostal churches in the city of Takoradi in Ghana were involved in social action. It was to discover the perception of Pentecostal Churches towards social action to enable a practice of holistic ministry in the city. The intended outcome of this study is to provide an understanding of the involvement of Pentecostal Churches in social action, to create an awareness of the strong biblical mandate given to the Church towards social action. It is also to provide an environment and impetus for easy collaboration and partnership among churches to be involved in social activities and interventions that will transform the city and the communities that churches operate. Finally it is to enable a collaboration that will enable the execution of a transformational project for female head porters in the city.

The study observed that while there was some involvement of the national churches of the two dominant Pentecostal churches in the city, the others were not involved. Structures that will promote social activities internally to transform the social life of members were very weak as was the involvement of the churches in their communities and the city as a whole. Again it was observed that collaboration among
churches was weak though churches were concerned and willing to be involved in the female head porters envisioned transformational project. The study further put forward recommendations for a healthy holistic ministry in the city.
