This project involved writing a curriculum to teach skills in conflict management which can be taught specifically in the local church in a small-group setting consisting of ten to twelve people in a local church. The curriculum is based on the concepts found in
The Peacemaker’s Pledge by Ken Sande.
A second part of this project was to take this curriculum and test it for effectiveness at the Abundant Life Center in Jefferson, Oregon. There was a pre-class and post-class inventory as part of the evaluation for its effectiveness. The curriculum was taught by its author in a setting with a small group of volunteers from Abundant Life Center.
This project was limited in several ways. First of all, the project was not developed as an amalgamation of many systems of conflict management. The curriculum and its skills were limited to those that are presented in the materials authored by Ken Sande.
Another limited aspect of this project was in the area of evaluation. All evaluation was done within the confines of Abundant Life Center. This limited the curriculum testing to one specific local church and the demographic draw of that church.
The final limitation of this project was that The Peacemaker’s Pledge as a source was not being evaluated. The curriculum written by the author of this project is what was being evaluated. It is important that these two items be separated in understanding the evaluation process for this project.
